Entourage Appreciation Post (LINK)
March 25th 2008 00:06
Having endured the wrath of the writer's strike (those greedy bastards, how dare they ask for a few more cents pay!) interrupting my favourite television program Entourage, I have recently gone back and revisited the show and rediscovered what makes it so damn good.
Now I don't know what LA looks like apart from what I have seen in the media and gossip mags I was paid to read at my old job (just don't tell my boss). I live in the good 'ole land of Oz so this is all foreign to me yet I feel I am now a honourary US citizen trying to avoid paying taxes. I now have a desire to star in a STD cream commercial for my big break too (I can't sit here and rest knowing someone like Turtle is getting more action than me).
The appeal of a character such as Vincent Chase has to be boiled down to his cut throat integrity, yet not allwoing this to stop his willingness to chase the big bucks. Call him a sellout if you will (you're wrong) but a brother's gotta eat. We all sympathised with his break up over Mandy (featuring one of his best performances to date) but yelled at the screen to not let it destroy his acting career. Ari Gold is a dream agent and Jeremy Piven is one of the most underrated actors of recent times. His uncanny ability to change from pure ecstacy to a blubbering mess is what keeps us hooked. Lines such as 'Tell Drama he's on my list of things to do, along with sticking needles in my c*ck' also helps.
Turtle is there to support his best mate whilst enjoying the ride as best as possible and E is there to look after the best interests of his one and only client while Drama is, well, Drama. His complete confidence in his abilities (or lack thereof) is stuff only champions are made of. Not to forget to mention the supporting cast of Billy Walsh, Dana Gordon, Shauna, Mrs. Ari ...
Hell, stop reading this and pick up a copy of the DVDs now!
